1. Agreement and operator

These Terms & Conditions govern use of the Lumessariovelle website and the information, contact functions, and readers’ club materials made available through it. The website is operated by Lumessariovelle Reading Club Inc., at 180 Bloor Street W, Toronto, ON M5S 2V6, Canada.

By using the website, you agree to use it lawfully and in a manner consistent with these Terms. If you do not agree, discontinue use of the website.

2. Permitted website use

You may browse the site, use the contact form for genuine enquiries, review program information, and share ordinary links to public pages. You must not attempt to interfere with website availability, bypass technical protections, introduce malicious code, scrape the site in a manner that materially disrupts service, impersonate another person, or use the form to send abusive, fraudulent, or unlawful content.

3. Readers’ club participation

Descriptions of discussions and events explain the intended format but do not guarantee that every listed session will proceed exactly as described. Dates, moderators, program sequence, reading selections, capacity, and venue arrangements may change where reasonably necessary. A request sent through the site is an enquiry and does not by itself create a guaranteed reservation unless the club separately confirms attendance.

Participants are expected to contribute respectfully, follow reasonable instructions connected with the running of a gathering, and avoid conduct that materially prevents others from participating. The club may decline or end participation where necessary to maintain a safe, lawful, and workable environment for the group.

4. Website content and accuracy

We aim to keep program information clear and current, but literary schedules and event details can change. Content is provided for general information about the club and its activities. Before relying on a date or practical arrangement, check the most recent information available from the club.

Editorial commentary, reading prompts, and discussion questions are interpretive materials. They are not intended to replace your own reading or to establish an authoritative interpretation of a literary work.

5. Intellectual property

The original text, visual design, club marks, discussion frameworks, and other materials created for this website are protected by applicable intellectual-property rules. You may make ordinary personal use of the public pages and quote brief portions with appropriate attribution where permitted by law. You may not reproduce substantial site content, remove authorship notices, or present Lumessariovelle materials as your own without permission or another lawful basis.

References to books, authors, and literary works remain the property of their respective rights holders. Their mention for discussion, identification, or commentary does not imply sponsorship of the club.

6. Messages and suggestions

If you send a reading-list suggestion, event idea, or other message, you confirm that you have the right to provide the material and that it does not knowingly violate another person’s rights. Sending an idea does not create an obligation for the club to adopt, publish, or develop it. The club may use ordinary suggestions internally to consider future programming without owing compensation for the suggestion itself.

7. Links and third-party material

The final site is designed to operate without third-party front-end resources. If a future page includes a link to an external site for reference, that external service will have its own terms and practices. A link would not by itself constitute endorsement or control of the external material.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the website is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or that every piece of program information will remain unchanged. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to those mandatory rights, Lumessariovelle Reading Club Inc. is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising solely from use of, or inability to use, the public website. Any limitation will be interpreted only to the extent permitted by the law that applies.

9. Privacy and cookies

Personal information is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Information about browser storage and cookies is provided in the Cookie Policy. Those documents form the relevant transparency notices for these topics.

10. Changes to the website or Terms

We may revise site content, features, event information, or these Terms as the club develops. The current version is identified by the update date above. Changes apply prospectively from publication unless a different effective date is stated or applicable law requires another approach.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without overriding any mandatory consumer or privacy rights that apply in another jurisdiction. The parties should first try to resolve a concern through direct written communication. Where a dispute must proceed formally, jurisdiction will be determined by the applicable procedural and mandatory laws.
